How To Clean As You Go!

We know what you’re thinking, ‘how am I meant to get this whole house clean, there’s only so many hours in the day!’. It doesn’t have to be that way! Here at SPh2ONGE we believe in the clean as you go mentality to keep stress levels low and your house sparkling for any unexpected visitors (especially over the festive period). These are some of our favourite tips to keep on top of your cleaning in the new year!

Preparation, Preparation, Preparation

Have you been cooking in the kitchen and the food bin is too full for your vegetable peelings and the sink is full of dishes? It is key to ensure that you have a clean and tidy work station before you start cooking to avoid mess being left around after (once you get good at these tips you wont have anything to clean as you will have cleaned it as you go!). Make sure that all bins are empty and any utensils or pans you need to use are washed and ready to go. This will make your life easier as you won’t be half-way through cooking and have to take on another task – and more stress!

Eating = Washing up

There is two ways that you can tackle the dirty dishes after your meals. The first way is by using your dishwasher to store your dirty tableware straight after a meal and then putting on a wash once it is full – this is quick, efficient, and keeps plates from stacking up on the side. If you don’t have access to a dishwasher and use a washing up bowl instead, you can still clean as you go. It is a great idea to soak any pans from cooking in some water while you eat your meal and then clean them once you have eaten as this gives them time to soak and makes them easier to clean. Make the water extra hot so by the time you come to clean your dishes after dinner the water is comfortable to touch, and you don’t have to waste time running water in the sink. By washing your dishes straight away you won’t have to wake up to piles of dirty tableware and instead start your day positive!

Take it slow

We all get stressed sometimes when it’s getting late and we have to put dinner on the table, especially when cooking for extra guests. You know what they say, ‘if you can’t take the heat get out of the kitchen’ – well we know how to make sure you handle the heat! When you’re cooking make sure you take it slow, put some music on, and keep the kids out! If you’re rushing you are more likely to spill things and cause a mess- and more stress. So, take a few deep breaths with us, and get that meal on the table (a glass of wine might help with the stress as well – we won’t tell)
